The Protea Industrial Park West industrial development consists of 350ha approved Industrial land. This means that all industrial and commercial development except chemical and noxious development can be done here.

This is one of the main roads used to travel to Kimberley, North West and Cape Town. There are 2 accesses from the N12 that are already built and only require upgrades. The site is easily accessible from the R559 Randfontein road and K15 Krugersdorp road passing right next to it. A railway line also passes through Protea Industrial Park West where heavy industrial can be developed.
The main sewer line has been installed, water is available and electricity from Eskom will be available in 2017.
Protea Industrial Park West has approved environmental authorisation from the Gauteng Department of Agriculture, Conservation and Environment.
A dolomite stability investigation and a surface soil report was done by Intraconsult and the Council for Geoscience approved the proposed development.
The department of minerals and energy also approved the proposed development.
A market feasibility report was done by Urban Econ and the study showed that the present and future market demand for commercial and industrial space will be sufficient to provide a sustained development. This site offers immense development opportunities to the local industrial market along with better lives to the local population of Protea Glen and Soweto via sustainable job creation initiatives. The Development of Protea Industrial Park West will create 45 000 new jobs and will continue the current transformation of Soweto and surroundings from a dormitory suburb to a business hub.
